Ravin, a young, inexperienced Deck-crewman, has vast aspirations. A son of a largely unknown family from the tiny Startrail island, part of the Khabo Territories him and his long lasting friend Ashe spend years preparing to partake in a short voyage on the tiny Secco Classe. Once he enlists, oppositions from inside and outside the navy follow him and the crew, leading to a potentially catastrophic end for some, and a rapid rise in status for others. The strength, and mental strain, of warriors mentally linking to other beings is beginning to be challenged by rapid technological advancements.
