Thirty-five, "pervert" medical students
The student union election has finally come to an end. First, there was the grade-level election: candidates went on stage to give a speech, talking about their so-called "policy platform", and then everyone voted. In fact, this election is just to see how good a person's eloquence is, whether they have the ability to stir up emotions, and also whether they are popular among their peers. Dai Ping also ran for the position of Minister of Propaganda in the student union and surprisingly succeeded.
In the subsequent class cadre election, Zhang Yongcheng became the new class leader, and other personnel remained largely unchanged. Lin Fanghua and Zhang Yong were in the same chemistry experiment group and had some understanding of him. Although this person was not as enthusiastic and outgoing as Dai Ping, he was more stable and self-disciplined, and his relationships with others in the class were also good. One time, when classmates arrived early and the experimental teacher who opened the door hadn't come yet, everyone started to frolic and play around, but Zhang Yong took out an English book amidst the noise and read it as if no one was there. When a girl teased him for being so diligent, he just smiled and said "The stupid bird flies first!" and continued to study hard with his head down.
One day, Dai Ping used his power in the student union to get three tickets for the school cinema and asked Lin Fanghua to invite Luo Manli to go with him.
Fanghua said helplessly: "I'm saying, why don't you just clarify things with her and ask her out alone? Stop making me be the third wheel all the time!"
Dai Ping shook his head: "No way, the timing isn't ripe yet. Although everyone is getting along pretty well now, I feel like she doesn't have any feelings for me! Besides, didn't you say her mom doesn't allow her to talk to friends too early? So, I'll just maintain the status quo for now! Help me out!" He said with a bow and a smile.
Lin Fanghua could say nothing more and had no choice but to go to the dormitory of the Pharmaceutical Institute to find Lu Manli.
Luomanli was very happy. She had long heard from the seniors that the movie "The Mystery of St. Paul's Hospital" was filmed on campus at Medical University. Last year, when it was filmed, even though there were no big stars, many seniors still went to watch the filming scene. Now that it is going to be screened in school, everyone wants to see what those familiar places on campus look like in the movie, so it's hard to get a ticket. Luomanli only managed to get one ticket from the Pharmaceutical College Student Union. She couldn't help but sigh, Medical University is really something, rich and powerful, with many people. However, she was still happy to give her spare ticket to a female student in the same dormitory, and then went to watch the movie with Fanghua and Dai Ping.
After watching the movie, everyone was a bit disappointed. Because the film was all dark and gloomy scenes, only roughly seen to be shot in the basement of the teaching building. Even the school's most beautiful clock tower was only lit up for a moment when lightning struck on a stormy night, and then it was gone. It made people who wanted to see their own campus feel a bit cheated.
However, this is also understandable. After all, the film reflects the story of the enemy's sabotage at the time of liberation, and in order to create an atmosphere, there is no need for beautiful scenery to adorn it.
Although she didn't see the campus scenery, Roman Li still gave a fair evaluation: "As a horror movie, this film is quite scary." Lin Fanghua and Dai Ping both laughed: "What's that? If you go to Building One at night, I guarantee you won't think this movie is scary anymore!"
The First Teaching Building is the oldest well-preserved building in the college. Although it has experienced more than 70 years of wind and rain, and has undergone several major renovations, the two-story above-ground and one-story underground building remains solid as new. Its exterior, like other old teaching buildings, is a blend of Chinese and Western styles, with an ancient charm, but for most medical students, their feelings towards the First Teaching Building are special. Perhaps it's particularly gloomy, perhaps it's particularly terrifying, or perhaps it's particularly stimulating, in short, none of these feelings are particularly good.
The reason is none other than it being a teaching building specifically for human anatomy.
The medical school really attaches great importance to anatomy classes, not only trying every means to get enough corpses for 5-6 students to share one body, but also having a large and spacious classroom as a learning venue for medical students. Each class has two large classrooms available during the study of anatomy, so they can be divided into two groups, each sitting in a room that can accommodate 50-60 people, which is really very spacious. Of course, it's not just spacious for no reason. Because in addition to the three dissection tables placed in the classroom, there are also many glass cabinets placed around them, containing hundreds of human specimens of various types. And this is only for a group of 15 students to study. (These teaching conditions are probably beyond the reach of students who entered university after expansion! To know that at that time, universities only symbolically collected some tuition fees, almost equivalent to free tuition!)
However, although the classroom environment of this school is spacious and bright, the corridor's lighting is always so dim. Moreover, there are large coffins placed on both sides of the corridor, which are filled with corpses. Whoever walks in the building will not feel at ease.
It's okay to come here for classes during the day, after all, under the bright sun and with many people around, even ghosts and monsters wouldn't dare to show up. However, since anatomy classes require studying actual specimens, and daytime classes aren't enough, it's a tradition at medical school to also open the anatomy building at night, allowing students to come in for self-study.
This night is like two completely different worlds compared to daytime.
The already dimly lit corridor had one or two light bulbs that flickered due to poor electrical contact. The air in the old wooden building was not fresh, and here it was always filled with a pungent smell of formalin that could not be dissipated. The human specimens placed in each classroom and display case looked particularly strange and eerie at night. And then there were the wooden floors that had been loose for many years, creaking loudly as people walked on them, making one feel like they were entering a super horror movie scene without any background music.
It seems that these are not enough, the administrator of Class A is also a somewhat terrifying "extreme product". Both teachers and students call him Grandpa Sun, it's unknown if he has any family members, anyway, he has been working here for many years, eating and living in Class A. Grandpa Sun looks like he's over 50 years old, very ugly and thin. Compared to the hunchbacked "Wang" from the movie who guarded the morgue, he is simply ferocious. Moreover, he lives alone with only a white cat as his companion. The boys all say that the white cat eats the leftover flesh of dissected corpses discarded by students, otherwise how could it be so fat? Regardless of whether this rumor is true or not, anyway, the girls all keep their distance from this man and his cat.
At first, everyone would go to the evening self-study session in groups of several people. The more the merrier! However, human adaptability is indeed strong. Soon, everyone could come and go alone without changing their expression. Lin Fanghua was even more so because she often went to the hospital for emergency practice in the afternoon, so she would usually go alone at night. Because she left relatively late, she was often the last one to leave.
One evening, she was alone in the classroom again. Unconsciously, she had been looking at the specimen for so long that she forgot about time. Suddenly, she heard the classroom door creak open and Old Man Sun's thin face appeared: "Classmate, it's late, the dormitory is about to turn off the lights!"
Fang Hua glanced at her watch and found it was already 10:45. The library usually closes at 10 pm. She apologized to Mr. Sun and quickly packed up her bag, rushing out of the classroom.
The main gate of the school is usually locked after class in the afternoon, and students all leave through the back door. The light at the stairway by the back door was broken again, so Fanghua had to slowly feel her way down the wall, step by step. At this time, a beam of light from a flashlight shone over from behind, looking especially bright in the dark stairwell. From behind came Old Sun's thick voice: "Classmate, be careful, don't fall!"
Fang Hua responded with a sound, and her heart couldn't help but surge up a warm current. The flashlight followed Fang Hua out of the backyard of Building One, until they reached the brightly lit street lamps on campus, before Old Sun turned back. Fang Hua looked at Old Sun's hunched back and couldn't help but think: people really can't be judged by their appearance.
When Lin Fanghua told Roman Li about her experience in the anatomy class, Li exclaimed: "You guys are really bold! You can actually eat and read next to a corpse. I would definitely have nightmares if I were you!"
Fang Hua said: "Having nightmares? You know there's an even weirder guy in our class, he got a skull from the teacher and studies it at night. When he gets tired, he sleeps with the skull!"
Manli was shocked: "Faint, I really can't be a doctor! You're all abnormal!"
Lin Fanghua thought Luo Manli's underlying message was that all doctors are perverts.
In a sense, it's indeed a bit abnormal. Think about it, for someone to cut open another person's body and perform surgery, they probably need a bit of an abnormal spirit to do it well! Doctors have to constantly face life and death, how can they be normal?
Everyone has something they are afraid of. Some people fear wolves, some fear snakes, some fear corpses, and some fear ghosts. In the end, it all boils down to a fear of death. If one is not even afraid of death, then there is nothing to be feared.
Some people say, if you're afraid of death, don't be a soldier. In fact, if you're afraid of death, don't be a doctor either.
The medical school is to cultivate an ordinary person into a doctor who dares to face death. Therefore, the anatomy class arranged by the school not only allows students to learn anatomical knowledge but also trains their courage and bravery in a subtle way.
Take death lightly and you will cherish life more. Now recognizing death is still for the sake of healing "life".
