For me, it's worth risking my life
I loosened my hand and turned around to stare at Lin Yue fiercely, "I don't want to go crazy with you!"
Lin Yue puckered her lips and stopped the car, "It's me accompanying you in your madness."
I hung my head and tears fell down.
"What's going on?"
Although Lin Yue tried to suppress his anger, I could still feel that his inquiry was not a gentle one, but rather an accusatory and even disappointed tone. Nevertheless, he seemed willing to give me another chance.
I shook my head, it seems I can only let him be thoroughly disappointed.
As expected, I heard a faint laugh, then Lin Yue said in a very calm tone, "Get off the bus."
I pushed open the car door and got out. I could imagine that in Lin Yue's eyes, there was only my back view. I walked further and further away, probably he wouldn't catch up with me.
As I heard the sound of the car starting, I turned around and opened my mouth, but didn't know what to say. I couldn't even see Lin Yue's expression behind the windshield.
Is he really not going to care about me anymore?
I smiled, but Lin Yue's car suddenly drove towards me, passing by my side and forming an arc-shaped trajectory. Before I could understand what he wanted to do, a loud crash was heard from that direction.
All it took was a second, and I fell into an endless abyss of fear.
I couldn't imagine the word "car accident" would appear in my life repeatedly within a few days, I was stunned, like a statue, completely unsure of how to move. I watched with my own eyes as someone pulled Lin Yue, covered in blood, out of the car.
Lin Yue still had his eyes open, he made a great effort to turn his head towards me, and looked at me with great effort. When he confirmed that I was safe and sound, he smiled weakly.
Then his eyelids fell heavily down.
Someone screamed that someone was dead, and some people started making phone calls. I finally came to my senses, ran to Lin Yue's side, and didn't dare touch him. Lin Yue looked especially fragile at the moment.
I'm afraid he really won't wake up. I even forgot how to cry. If Lin Yue hadn't blocked the truck with his car, it would have crashed into me for sure.
For over ten minutes in the ambulance, Lin Yue never woke up. I watched as doctors and nurses bustled around him, listening to them say things that were completely incomprehensible to me.
When I see them shaking their heads, I cry hard, but thinking that Lin Yue doesn't like me crying, I wipe away my tears and stare straight at him.
Arriving at the hospital, Lin Yue was pushed into the operating room and I was locked outside. It wasn't until then that I remembered to call Uncle Lin, and after a long silence on the other end of the phone, I heard his trembling voice.
I think, in Uncle Lin's heart, Lin Yue and my mom are equally important, or maybe even more so. So even when he rushed to the hospital and just gave me a stern look before not speaking again, I didn't dare say a word of complaint.
I told him that Lin Yue got into a car accident in order to save me.
Google and Junko also rushed over. Google changed into surgical clothes and went in, then came out a while later to tell me that the chief surgeon was his teacher, so we didn't need to worry.
But when I asked him if Lin Yue was okay, he couldn't answer me.
Junko was comforting me, she looked at me as if there was something she wanted to say, but after a while she still lowered her head and swallowed the words back.
I buried my head in my hands, and it seems like an invisible hand has pressed the fast-forward button on my life these days, and many absurd plot twists have been inserted inexplicably.
It seems like all the bad things around me just won't stop.
Lin Yue had been out for two hours, his eyes were closed, a bandage wrapped around his head, and his face and lips were pale. But he looked very calm, his eyebrows relaxed, and there was no sign of pain.
The doctor said Lin Yue's condition is okay, just a superficial wound, and he will probably wake up in a few hours.
I crouched down beside him and wanted to hold his hand, but was blocked by Uncle Lin.
"You're friends of Xi, right? Would you mind sending her home first?"
"Uncle Lin..."
"I'm enough here, don't tell your mom about your brother's thing either. Take good care of her these days, no need to go to the hospital."
"But..." I looked at Lin Yue, he was still not awake, I didn't want to leave, at least I wanted to see him wake up and tell me it's okay, even if he was mad at me. "I thought..."
Junco pulled me from behind and said "Let's go."
Google patted me on the shoulder and whispered, "You guys go back first, I'll take care of the hospital, I'll find a chance to let you see him."
I know it can only be like this, even if there wasn't this incident, Uncle Lin has always been distant and polite to me, and when he sensed that something was off between me and Lin Yue, he was already very dissatisfied. Now, I'm afraid what he hopes for is not just that I won't come to the hospital, but that I will never appear in front of Lin Yue again.
Junco sent me home, on the way, she still told me what she wanted to say but didn't say it before.
She said, "Actually, I saw him when I was leaving the coffee shop."
"Huh?"
"Your brother." Junko looked at me, "Were you two talking on the phone back then?"
It turned out that from then on, Lin Yue had been following me. He followed me to Yu Tian's house, watching me go upstairs and waiting for me downstairs.
In fact, he could have stopped me from going, but he left the right and opportunity to choose to me, and harmed himself.
"Junco asked me, 'What would you do if he woke up?'"
I stared at her blankly, what should I do, apologize to Lin Yue? But I knew that Lin Yue was just angry, he didn't necessarily blame me, and he didn't need to apologize.
"Xie Xi, are you always going to be so passive? When someone is proactive for too long, they will also get tired and not want to take the initiative anymore."
I've been thinking seriously about Lin Yue's appearance and the words he said to me. Until now, I still don't understand why Lin Yue would like me, but the things he did for me are clearly visible before my eyes.
In the past, I was just a contented ostrich, never refusing his kindness.
Now, I think I have to make a decision and figure out if I can really consider Lin Yue as my boyfriend. If so, I will try my best to love him just like he treats me well, and protect him without hesitation when he's in danger.
If I can't do it, then I'll leave. At least I shouldn't let him waste his time and life on me anymore.
I nodded at Junko, "I'll think it over."
I didn't sleep all night and just before dawn I received a call from Google. He told me that Lin Yue had just woken up and was no longer in danger.
Google paused for a moment and then said, "He asked if you're okay."
My hand holding the phone trembled slightly, "I want to go see him."
"I think Uncle Lin is not planning to leave, so here's what we'll do: you come to the hospital in the morning and I'll arrange for you two to meet when he goes for his check-up."
"Thank you."
As expected, Uncle Lin didn't come back like Google said. I rushed to the hospital early in the morning and looked at Lin Yue from afar through the glass of his ward. His spirit wasn't very good, one hand covering his head, his eyebrows furrowed, as if he was arguing with Uncle Lin about something.
Google walked over with a tired face as well.
"Thanks for your trouble, didn't you get a wink of sleep all night either?"
Google smiled, "You're still being polite with me? But it seems that this Lin uncle is really stubborn. I just asked the nurse to inform him to go home and pack a few clothes, but he didn't listen. How did you get out of the car during the accident? Be honest, are you and your brother...?"
Lin Yue's thing Google doesn't know, he was just joking and asked me in a playful tone, after seeing my silent expression, he didn't say anything either.
"You and Yu Tian really..."
"Don't mention him to me again."
"Is there some misunderstanding? He might have been a bit over the top for the past two years, but recently he hasn't been that bad. At first, I and Junko didn't agree with you because we were afraid you would leave again."
"So, what do you want to say?"
"Because I considered you a friend, so I couldn't really blame you for anything, but have you ever thought about how Yu Tian was four years ago when you left just like that? You found a boyfriend not long after you left, do you think he didn't mind at all? Now no matter what you and your brother think, it's best if you don't tell him."
"I know. I won't see him again."
Google frowned and pursued, "What exactly......"
"We didn't have much, it's just that we tried and found out it really wasn't suitable."
"Whatever, I don't care." Just then, the door of Lin Yue's hospital room opened and a nurse pushed him out in a wheelchair.
We took a detour and arrived at the inspection site. Google opened the door for me to enter.
I walked over slowly, moved my mouth but had no idea what to say, and just stood there for two minutes.
Lin Yue turned his back to me and asked, "Xi, is it you?"
"I..."
"Come over here, I'm so dizzy now, come over."
I walked around and stood in front of Lin Yue, he was sitting in a wheelchair, I had no choice but to squat down, stretched out my hand and then withdrew it.
"Who made you withdraw your hand?"
"Hmm..."
"As long as you're alright..."
