The Pack

Sophia's POVI rolled from under the covers around nine Sunday morning to the birds singing as I took in the fresh clean air (one of the perks of living in a pce surrounded by trees and rivers). I sat back on the edge of my bed and grabbed my new phone that mom bought me (the newest IPhone) and texted Kairi.'Good morning my Empress. I didn't wake you, did I?''Yawn, no babe I've been up for the pass hour. Are you sure you're ok Soph?''Kairi for the st time between you and the gang I'm ok just miss you.''Miss you too. So what's your pns for today?''I have a tribe ceremony ter so I'll just chill with Paul and the others.''Wait tribe ceremony?''Yeah.....I completed the tribes final trail, so after day I'm officially a member of the tribe.''That's great babe. I'm happy for you. Anyway I'll let you go rex. I love you Sophia.''I love you too Kairi.'After finally deciding to get out of bed, get changed, eat and go looking for Josh and the others. I haven't spoken to any of them since I triggered the curse and although I'm really angry with them anymore, I'm still kinda upset about the whole thing. I stepped outside and turned in the direction of clearing where I picked up their scent st time. Over the past two days I've been practicing on my own, the wolf hearing and smelling came easy to me but the speed and strength till gave me problems. Without realizing it, I was already at the clearing and surprise surprise there they were Paul, Josh and Cole having a sparring match while Sarah was sitting under a tree with a tall boy built like a tank, Chad Spencer."Sophia over here," Sarah called out to me causing the others to look around while I made my way to her."Hey.....if it isn't little Sophia, long time no see," Chad said in a wide grin."Why did you guys hide this from me?"I asked all of them. Paul and Sarah had bnk expressions no doubt surprised by the sudden question. Cole started looking at random trees while Josh looked at his feet. "I'm not pissed of at you guys. I understand that this is something huge and life changing but I just want to hear your reasons."Paul sighed, "honestly, it was because of your parents. After everything that happened to you they it would be best if you didn't know about..all of this. This life.....it's not easy, most of us die, very young and they know once you're in, it's for life.""Is that the reason for you guys?" They nodded at me, now looking at me. "I see.....ok. My dad told a little about all this, he did want to overload me and I've been practicing but the whole speed and strength thing is giving me a hard time."Suddenly my hand rose up on its own catching what feels like a stone. My heart raced a bit before slowing back down."Well done," said Sarah coming from the direction of the stone. "You're having problems because you are overthinking. Let me guess, your dad said that it response to a want?"I nodded at her, still shocked."He isn't wrong but for something so new to you, your body and mind are still adjusting. The easiest way to bring out the wolf is to rex, don't think, feel, go on instinct. When you become one with your instincts all of this will be has easy as breathing. The next thing after you've mastered control would be transforming," Sarah continued."Transforming?" I asked sitting down next to Chad."Yeah transforming into your wolf. Didn't your parents tell you? About the Full Moon?" Sarah inquired and I shook my head."That's messed up," Cole said in a grim voice."It's downright cruel," Chad added."Soph, a Full Moon is one of the most important things that can happen to us. Every Full moon we transform into our wolf form against our will. And. It's the most painful things you will ever experience has a new wolf. Like think of most painful things you can and I can guarantee it won't come close to what you'll feel during your first Full Moon," Paul expined sending chills down my spine."Is it that bad guys?""I wanted to die," Cole said."I would rather get shot again, repeatedly," excimed Chad." Child birth would be way easier," Sarah jumped in."Trust me Soph, you'll see for yourself on Tuesday," Paul confirmed."Tuesday, holy shit," I said now scared."Enough of that guys, Sophia needs training and who better to train her than us," Sarah jumped up with a smile."Let's have a sparing match, Sophia verses Josh," Paul excimed. I grinned at Josh who had on a small smirk. As we stepped into the clearing and took our fighting stance I felt anxious. I mean I've spared with other people before but nothing like this and looking at Josh who was so rexed didn't help."Remember Soph, rex, don't think just feel," Sarah shouted from the tree.Josh rushed it me sending a series of quick jabs at my face. I rexed, breathing in and out slowly, slowing my heart rate, dodging the few before catching his arms holding him in pce. I smirked at him knowing he would go for my knees, he rose his left leg but instead he stepped on my inside leg then a quick pain to my stomach. "Hijo de puta que duele," I let go of Josh's hand crouching down on one knee. I've been hit before but this was different, it felt like the wind got knocked out of me. So that's the power of a werewolf and if Josh hits like this, then what does Paul hit like?"Don't worry Soph you're body is still adjusting, you'll be fine," Sarah shouted."You ok Soph?"asked Josh, extending his hand to me with a smile. I took his hand and smiled back. "You'll get use to the pain plus we heal so that's a bonus."After a couple hours of training, with Cole and Josh, and with Sarah coaching us on. We decided to take a break and just chill out. This was nice, like I was getting back to my old carefree, fun, loving and spontaneous self. Before long the sun began to set so we left to get ready for my ceremony before the moon started to rise. Josh followed me home to keep me company and to take me to the Pack House. My parents had already left to help get the pce ready. I walked into my room and saw a white and blue traditional Native Poncho with a hood weaved with a wolf and a full moon in the center. After a quick shower, I put on my white baggy cotton Arabic style pants that was taken in at the ankles, a white sleeveless shirt and my poncho over it. My hair flowing free down to my back with a traditional headdress on my hair to my forehead, pcing my hood over my head. For ceremony in the tribe it was customary to go barefoot, (to be more connected with nature), that's what the elders say. But now that I've activated my curse I could feel it, a calm soothing feeling washed over me, easing my nerves. Once I got ready I met Josh in the living room in a bck cargo pants and a white sleeveless shirt also barefoot. We left my house and walked down the road further into the woods. We soon came upon bright lights hanging among three wooden builds, the middle one the rgest between the other two. A rge crowd in front of us, all in a traditional Native clothing. To the right were people pying native instruments while others dance."Welcome to the pack house," Joshua said pointing to the middle building. "This is where all tribe decisions are made. To the right we have the infirmary and the left our greenhouse." I smiled at him. This pce is amazing and beautiful. For the first time since I was eight, I felt like part of the tribe. Suddenly a loud horn rung out and everyone quite down. I looked at the pack house to see my grandfather Elijah Redway the chief of the tribe followed by the elders: Paul's grandfather, Samantha's grandmother, Joshua's grandmother, Chad's grandfather and the other two elders that I'm not familiar with."I'll be over there with Cole," Josh whispered in my ear then walked away. I took a deep breath looking at the path the crowd made connecting me to the elders."Tonight I am so thankful that we can all gather under the light of the new moon to welcome another pup to the pack. And I couldn't be prouder of my granddaughter, the youngest Redway," grandpa said with a big smile on his face."Step forward young one," Josh's grandmother said smiling. I stepped forward slowly, looking at everyone's faces. Some smiled at me some cheered me on while some congratuted me. When I made my way to the front I was greeted by my parents who hugged me pcing a kiss on both cheeks."This ceremony represents the connection that all wolves of a pack share. I reminder that the pack is family and with family we are not alone. Sophia Rosalia Redway, descendant of the first Chief do you promise to uphold the secrets of this tribe?"I looked around before looking at my parents and they gave me an encouraging nod. I nodded at my grandfather. "I do.""Do you promise to put the needs of the pack above all?""I do.""Then by the power of the moon and the will of the Goddess Luna I now connect you to the pack. You are no longer a pup but a wolf," my grandfather smiled down at me with a proud look on his face. The crowd began to cheer and people started swarming me with hugs, pats on the back and giving thumbs up. I started to hear Josh and Paul but I couldn't see them."We're speaking telepathically Soph," Paul said with a slight chuckle."Perks of the binding ritual. You'll learn block people out in time. The voices can be overwhelming no one's using telepathy," Josh followed up."Makes sense...""Now it's time for the tattoo rite of passage. Sophia please make your way to the podium," Chad's grandfather excimed over the crowd. I made my way to the podium and took a knee in front of the elders. My father came up soon after with Paul with a stencil design and other supplies."The tribes tattoo signifies that you have completed all rites of passage. You will be involved in all tribal matters. Now this will be painful so brace yourself dear. I nodded and braced myself taking off my poncho revealing the sleeveless shirt I had underneath. My dad pced the stencil on my right bicep then added the ink, filling out the design."Ok, the easy part is over princess. Now comes the hard part so brace yourself," my dad said softly. Paul suddenly pulled out a small blowtorch and handed it to my dad. I blowtorch? Why the fuck would they want a blowtorch? 'Calm down Sophia is gonna be ok. It will just hurt for a bit, you'll heal in no time when it's over.' I heard Paul's voice in my head. I nodded slightly at him, decided to take his word for it. After a deep breath my father turned on the blowtorch burning the tattoo what felt like into my muscles. A loud growl left my mouth, my eyes glow (a knew because everything was brighter, more defined and just better in ways I just can't put into words) and my four fangs protruded. The pain was the worse thing a could dream of.After about ten minutes of growling the pain faded away almost instantly. Thank God for supernatural healing. I sighed in relief and stood up looking at my new tattoo, and I had to say it was beautiful. I've always liked the Native American side of my family tree, it had a special mystical vibe about it even though I show off my Hispanic heritage more. Josh soon called me over has the tribe celebrated well into the night.
