As Dawled down to get some rest, she realized that she haden sihey started healing. Then again, on sed thought, she realized she wouldn’t be able to anyway, her stomach still ing over some of the things she had seen. Despite that, however, she knew Niphru o eat, so she got back up and headed out her cart.
While she could probably ask for food from the camp, she did not want to risk seeing even more horrors, so she grabbed some supplies from her cart to make a small amount of stew. A few people passed as she worked, giving her odd gnces, but, ultimately, no ohered her.
Once she finished, she fed Niphru, finding he was doing much better than before, though he did still need help, at least he could mostly move his head now. Perhaps being around so much healing being done had been beneficial, she thought.
Having fiaking care of her friend, she ed the supplies she had used aurhem to the cart before settling back down to rest.
While it was somewhat noisy with all the people around, and she was still haunted by some of the things she had seen, she did eventually mao fall asleep.
She awoke to a surprising amount of noise, disoriented for a moment before remembering the prior day. Leaving the tent, she was surprised to see one of the female elite archers was sitting outside, resting on a rge backpack.
The woman looked up at the sound of the fp opening and o her. As the woman stood, she spoke to Dawn, “Hello, Dawn, my name is Farah. I was asked by Leanna to escort you to the capital as thanks for your assistah this operation.”
“Thank you, Farah, but please tell me you didn’t sit there all night!” Dawn excimed
Chug, Farah shook her head and replied, “No, I have only been here a short while, it was obvious you wouldn’t be leaving in the middle of the night. Healers always need rest after su exhausting day. Did you want to set out now?”
Dawn was about to reply wheomach growled, making her blush slightly before asking, “Would it be possible to get some breakfast here?” She reached up to pet Niphru before tinuing, “My friend Niphru here also o eat. And I was thinking I could try to help a little more today, I remember that we just stabilized most people rather than healing as much as we could yesterday.”
“Of course, follow me and we get some food. And I am sure no one would have a problem with more help. The others feel the same from what I heard, so maybe the three of you get everyoched up as well as possible today,” answered Farah as she grabbed her pad began leading Dawn towards another se of the camp.
Shortly afterwards, they arrived at a cleariweeents, numerous tables and benches arranged within. A quick trip to a nearby tent allowed them to collect bowls of pe mixed with some vegetables and shreds of meat. While it didn’t look terribly appetizing, Dawn found that it tasted surprisingly good, and Niphru did not seem to have any difficulty eating it, either.
After they finished eating, Farah led Dawn back to the makeshift hospital, then joined in helping bring the injured civilians over from where they were staying. Fortunately for Dawn, while many of the wounds were bad, it wasn’t nearly as bloody and chaotic as the day before, and she found it much less ing than the madness prior.
She still was quite upset that such things had happened, of course, but this was much closer to what she was used to, and with the two other healers, it went quite quickly. Granted, it helped that they had already been ed and patched up beforehand, allowing them to simply focus on reeg flesh below stitches and regrowing skin. After seeing quite a few people, Farah ehe tent, nodding to her, and sat down to wait.
Dawn finished with her current patient ao che Farah, learning that everyone had been brought in, and they were almost finished. Additionally, she had a message from Leanna t to the capital regarding this i. From there, it only took a short while to finish up with everyone, leaving her with more mana than she had expected, thanks to the old man perf many of the most intensive healings. He had made a good point that he had more experience, and thus could likely do a better job on the more plex injuries, leaving the bulk of the easier work to the two women.
While they had worked, Dawn spoke with the other female healer, learning that she had been traveling from the capital into the wilds for some practical training with her friend, who was focused mostly oh magibsp; They had run into some of the raiders along the way, easily dispatg them due to that group g any ranged support, the with some of Leanna’s people a short way beyond that. Upon hearing what was going on, they quickly agreed to help in exge for a reasonable payment and promises that they would be protected as much as possible.
Before Daw, the woman shared that her name was Amara, and that both she and her friend Yen were students from the capital as well, and that they might meet again iure. Having fiheir work, the three healers parted, Dawn heading back to prepare to travel, while Amara and the old man were going to help lead the civilians back to Granitehill.
After a quick double-check, Dawn verified she had everything she needed, a off towards the capital with Farah. Fortunately, nothiful happened during the several day journey, and the two of them simply spent the time chatting. She found out on the first day that Farah had always wanted a pet, and was quite ied in Niphru due to his uuation, having never met with an Awakened before.
From what Farah said, there were efforts in the capital to recreate dogs, as apparently the gods that had taken humans to this world had nht man’s best friend with them, though they certainly were not fotten by the people. Dawn found this iing, as she hadn’t heard of that before, and had been w why Lara had asked about dogs before.
