Volume 1 Chapter 16: A Banquet?!

  Today is Sunday, because I promised my parents to go home at least one day a week, so I'm getting ready to head out. Xīn, Yǐng, Qí and the others got up early this morning and went who-knows-where, maybe they went home, or maybe they're out playing, or even shopping. I don't know, nor do I want to know, they all know how to gauge their limits.

  I walked into the garage and told Uncle Chen and Auntie Chen that I wouldn't be coming back today. Uncle Chen and Auntie Chen are a married couple who were hired to help with household chores at our villa. Besides them, there were no other servants. I found them very kind, so I also showed respect for them. After instructing them, I drove my Ferrari home.

  "Bing'er, you're finally here! You know how much Mommy has missed you." As soon as she walked in the door, her mom dragged her to the sofa and poured out her troubles.

  "Okay, mommy, stop it, if you keep doing this, I'm leaving."

  "Alright, I won't bother you anymore. You stay and chat with Dad for a bit, I'll go cook dinner for you." After saying that, he winked at Dad and headed towards the kitchen. Looks like there's another scheme brewing. But don't be fooled by Mom's appearance, her cooking is super awesome, really delicious, just slightly inferior to mine.

  "Dad asked me, 'Ice, are you free tonight?'"

  "Well, nothing's wrong."

  "Oh? Is that so, then..."

  "What's wrong?"

  "It's like this, you know that Uncle Duanmu?"

  "Uncle Duanmu?"

  "That's the one who often came to our house when we were young."

  "Oh." I said casually.

  "His son's birthday is today, so they're having a party at their place tonight. I thought, why don't you come with us and meet some people."

  "May I refuse?"

  "You know." Father's tone was very heavy, anyway, it was just that he couldn't refuse.

  "Oh, okay, I'll join in. But I'm leaving soon."

  "It's okay, as long as you participate."

  "Okay, Ice, come and eat, Mommy has made your favorite Coke chicken wings."

  "Wow, it smells so good." Then sat down at the dinner table to eat.

  After finishing the meal, I walked into Grandma's old room. Looking at the bits and pieces in the room, everything was still the same as before, as if all the memories with Grandma were flashing back in my mind.

  "Knock knock, ice, may I come in?"

  "Come in, Mom."

  "Don't be sad anymore, Grandma wants to see you happy. Come on, go back to your room, wash up, and then we'll go to the banquet together."

  "Oh." And with that, I walked out of the room.
