Chapter 91: The Narrow Road of Enemies

  Because of a sleepless night, the next day, Cheng Yixi went to work with a pale face. She had taken five days off to travel and find a quiet place to clear her mind, but now she was back at the office.

  As she sat at her desk, she couldn't help but think about Xu Zhen and Bai Jing's engagement. How could he have kept it a secret from her? And why did he still pursue her after being engaged?

  Just as Cheng Yixi was lost in thought, Lin Xiangyu came over to chat with her. "Hey, have you heard the news?" she asked.

  "What news?" Cheng Yixi replied, trying to sound nonchalant.

  "Xu Zhen and Bai Jing's engagement!" Lin Xiangyu exclaimed. "It's been all over the news! They've been engaged for years!"

  Cheng Yixi's heart sank. She felt like she had been punched in the gut. How could Xu Zhen have kept this from her? And why did he still pursue her after being engaged?

  She tried to play it cool, but Lin Xiangyu noticed that something was wrong. "Hey, are you okay?" she asked.

  Cheng Yixi forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little surprised, that's all."

  But Lin Xiangyu wasn't convinced. She leaned in closer and whispered, "You know, I always thought there was something fishy about Xu Zhen. He's just too perfect. And now this engagement thing... it just doesn't add up."

  Cheng Yixi felt a wave of panic wash over her. What if everyone found out that she was the "other woman"? What if she became the laughing stock of the office?

  Just as she was thinking about how to handle the situation, Su Wei appeared at the door. Her face was stern and unyielding.

  "Cheng Yixi, come here," she commanded.

  Cheng Yixi's heart skipped a beat. She had no idea what Su Wei wanted, but she knew it couldn't be good.
