Chapter 86: Reunion with an Old Love

  Sitting on the bus, Cheng Yixi stared blankly at the window, her mind preoccupied. The words White Jie had spoken earlier still lingered in her mind, making her feel uneasy.

  Just then, a figure appeared before her eyes. It was Lin Zhihao, his face pale and his eyes sunken. He looked like he had been through a lot.

  "Lin Zhihao?" Cheng Yixi's voice trembled slightly as she spoke his name.

  Lin Zhihao's eyes locked onto hers, filled with tears. "Yixi... I've missed you so much," he said, his voice shaking.

  Cheng Yixi's expression changed from surprise to disgust. "What are you talking about? You're a married man now. How can you say such things?"

  Lin Zhihao's face contorted in pain. "I know I'm married, but my heart still belongs to you. I've never stopped loving you."

  Cheng Yixi couldn't believe what she was hearing. "You're crazy! You chose to marry Suo Wei, so now you have to take responsibility for your actions and give her a warm home. How can you talk about divorce?"

  Lin Zhihao's eyes pleaded with hers. "Yixi, please listen to me. I know I made a mistake by marrying Suo Wei, but my heart has always belonged to you. I'll do anything to make it right between us."

  Cheng Yixi shook her head, trying to clear the cobwebs from her mind. What was Lin Zhihao talking about? Did he really think she would wait for him after all these years?

  "Lin Zhihao, stop spouting nonsense," she said firmly. "I don't want to hear any more of your empty promises."

  But Lin Zhihao refused to give up. He grabbed her hand, his eyes filled with desperation. "Yixi, please believe me. I'll do anything to make you happy. Just wait for me, just one year. I'll divorce Suo Wei and come back to you. I promise."

  Cheng Yixi's expression softened slightly at the sincerity in his voice, but she knew she couldn't trust him. She had been hurt too many times before.

  "I'm sorry, Lin Zhihao," she said gently. "But I don't think I can wait for you anymore."
