Chapter Fifteen: A Two-Person Game
Lin Yuchen's foot injury had just healed, and she ran to the dance room every day. Xia Weiya knew in her heart that Lin was working hard for someone, so she didn't try to persuade her. The persistence and courage that Lin Yuchen exuded were qualities that these spoiled rich girls did not have. She could vaguely understand that Lin's stubbornness and resilience came from the fact that she was not of noble birth.
Lin Yuchen, dressed in casual clothes, was strolling around the campus, admiring the early autumn scenery. The sweltering heat had dissipated, and dark clouds were slowly drifting over from the distant mountains, indicating that rain was approaching soon. The autumn breeze carried a dry and musty smell of withered yellow leaves, and as it swept across the ground, the dry leaves and concrete pavement rubbed against each other, producing a coarse sound.
Suddenly, thunder rumbled and spread out in all directions from the dense dark clouds of the distant mountains. The sunny sky just a moment before was replaced by sparse raindrops the size of beans. The dry concrete floor absorbed the moisture of the rain, slowly expanding its scope.
Lin Yuchen, who couldn't escape the rain, could only stand in a rest pavilion beside the basketball court. As soon as he looked up, he saw someone on the lawn next to him, holding a basketball and walking towards him. When the person approached, Lin Yuchen finally saw that it was Zhang Lüqian, that devil who always liked to kick people when they were down.
Zhang Lvqian rushed to the basketball court in the rain, and he saw a silly girl who still strolled around the campus despite knowing it was about to rain. He really didn't know what her brain was made of.
"What a coincidence! Drenched chicken, what are you doing here?" By the time he stood in front of her, his clothes were already soaked through, yet he still had the nerve to call her drenched chicken. His grandfather probably didn't even realize that he himself looked more like a drenched chicken.
"Don't you think this title suits you better?" Lin Yuchen said calmly and slowly, with a smile that was extremely elegant.
It's really a narrow road for enemies, she knew that every time she met him, nothing good would happen.
"You..." Zhang Lüqian lowered his head, looking at his soaked casual clothes, and for a moment, he was at a loss for words to refute her.
"Alright, dare to have a match with me!" He said, provoking her, he had an ulterior motive. He just wanted to see how good her ball skills were, and for someone who kept a low profile, he was happy to provoke her.
"What's better?" Not willing to back down, she raised her head and looked at him, meeting his provocation.
"Basketball. I know you're a master, and it's more interesting to play with a master." With an expression that was arrogant to the extreme, Lin Yuchen saw it but thought he was very cute, that was the pure side of the devil. He wasn't inherently bad, just occasionally had a poisonous mouth.
"Alright, no problem. How about a game?" When it comes to playing basketball, she won't lose to boys, she has that confidence.
"If you can grab the ball from my hands, then you win. Time limit, 15 minutes."
"What's the benefit of winning?"
"Name your conditions." He said it with a carefree tone, his face unable to conceal his overflowing confidence.
"What if you win?" Lin Yuchen removed the rubber band from his hand, casually gathered up his slightly damp hair and prepared to tie it up.
"If I win, you... dance a piece for me." He said this because Vivian told him that her dancing had an enchanting charm and he was eager to see it.
"Dance? Alright, no problem. Let's start!" Although she didn't know why the demon would make such a request, it wasn't a big deal for her who thought she wouldn't lose anyway.
The rain continued to fall heavily, showing no signs of stopping. However, for the two people on the field, even the heaviest rain couldn't stop them - this match had to go on!
The pale rain continued to fall intermittently, and the two people standing on the basketball court stared at each other, their eyes unusually firm. Rainwater flowed slowly from their hair down their calm and proud faces, and when it reached their chins, it fell like a broken string of pearls.
Zhang Lvqian held the basketball in his right hand and put his left hand in his pocket, with a confident and cool expression. A faint smile curled up at the corner of his mouth, but to Lin Yuchen's eyes, it became a sneer and disdain. So, stubborn as she was, when he raised his head and smiled at the corner of his mouth, she suddenly shouted out "Start!"
The final battle between two people has officially begun.
Zhang Lüqian patted the ball, slightly bending his legs, and opened his left hand to block Lin Yuchen's sudden attack from the left side, avoiding her direct grab of the basketball on his right side. The basketball, accompanied by rainwater, splashed onto the cement floor, creating a beautiful arc. The two people, already soaked from head to toe, remained expressionless, one trying to snatch the ball and the other desperately protecting it while dodging the opponent's attacks, doing everything possible to evade her grabs.
The patter of the rain mixed with the rhythmic sound of basketball bouncing, echoing in the empty stadium. Time ticked away second by second, and Lin Yuchen gradually felt a bit strained. It seemed she had underestimated his skills. She thought he was just playing for fun to show off, but it turned out his skills were so good! He wasn't inferior to her brother, who had won first place in the national college basketball championship.
However, she is not a thrifty lamp either. That kid is too arrogant, his sharp aura is unstoppable, and he may really think that he is the number one in the world.
