The Rain in My Heart
The blackboard has today's homework written on it. On the far left is the math class representative, a neat and tidy girl's handwriting: Textbook p1283-5, ??p1324-6?? "Precision Practice" p170-p176, with two analysis questions copied below. At the top of the blackboard is the physics teacher's scribble: "Synchronized Training" units 18 and 19, ?? "Precision Practice" p184-190. In the upper right corner, the chemistry class representative's messy handwriting reads: "密卷" (Secret Volume) sets 12 and 13, textbook p180 ?? four and five. In the lower right corner is English: post-class exercises, "Synchronized Training" units 22 and 23.
In the classroom, there were faint scratching sounds of writing, occasionally interrupted by the annoying and muffled noise of a pencil being sharpened against a plastic ruler, or the gurgling sound of correction fluid being shaken. There were also the painful tearing sounds of transparent tape being ripped off paper, as well as hushed discussions about homework in whispers.
Distant thunder rumbled outside the window. Someone looked up and gazed out the window, whispering that they hadn't brought an umbrella.
The sky gradually darkened, and the classmate sitting by the wall pressed the light switch.
The fluorescent light flickered on hesitantly. The lightning outside the window flashed brightly and decisively.
Suddenly, a loud thunderclap scared the whole class into a tremble.
"You scared me to death..."
"I almost had a heart attack!"
"It looks like it's going to rain heavily."
The murmurs announced the end of quiet self-study. Next, the rain pouring down from the sky soon joined in on the conversation in the classroom.
The rain in early June brings the flavor of summer. The classroom doors and windows are wide open, allowing the wind carrying water vapor and mud to freely pass through, taking away the stale air.
The little girl lifted her head and gazed out the window. She loved storms, especially those with thunder and lightning, which brought excitement to the usually calm and monotonous sky, unleashing its infinite power and unpredictable nature.
The sound of raindrops on the ground was like a never-ending, all-encompassing, and joyful song, as if the earth was expressing its admiration for the sky. She had always thought that heaven and earth were a pair of lovers who could not embrace each other, forever gazing at each other from afar, only revealing their passion during storms.
Lightning flashes, thunder rumbles, the sky is torn apart to say: I love you! The wind howls, the rain whispers, the earth responds with deep and steadfast affection: Me too!
The childlike thoughts made her smile faintly. Such a vast and profound love, she could only think about it in this way. As for herself, someone who even needs to think of an excuse for half a day before actively going to talk to someone, would never be able to openly express her emotions to another person...
Taking a deep breath, Tonghua lowered his head and continued to write his Chinese composition homework. Today's homework was somewhat meaningful, requiring him to expand on the brief mention of the insect plot in Pu Songling's "The Weaving Maid". What would Chengzi ask when he went to see the fortune teller about the insects?
Tong Hua was thinking deeply when she suddenly felt someone patting her from behind. She turned around and saw Nian Qiao making eyes at her, wanting her to look at the entrance.
Looking towards the door, Ye Dongling was holding several books in her hand and beckoning to her.
"Sister, what's up?" Tong Hua walked out of the classroom with a polite smile.
"Hey, I borrowed some reference books for you." Ye Dongling handed over a few semi-used exercise books to Tong Hua, "However, they've been used before. You can flip through them first and see if you think they're useful. If so, then go buy them. There are some notes on the pages that should still be quite useful, after all, these were used by high school seniors, so you can see what the key points of study are."
"Thank you, senior sister." Tong Hua took the book and lowered her head to see what it was, so she wouldn't miss anything when she turned back. Her eyes fell on a "Physics Difficult Problems for First Year High School Students", and her movements slowed down. She pulled out this book, wanting to return it to Ye Dongling, but her hand hesitated.
"What's wrong?" Ye Dongling looked at her with a somewhat strange expression, seemingly a bit unhappy and a bit sorrowful.
"Hmm... I'm thinking of studying liberal arts... so this book... might not be useful anymore..." Tonghua tried to control his voice, wanting to make his tone sound very calm.
"Oh." Yè Dōng Líng thoughtfully looked at her with downcast eyes.
The childlike face suddenly broke into a bright smile and said, "Awesome! I'm most envious of people who know what they should do."
It feels sour in my heart. Ye Dongling's words were meant to comfort her, but as a science student from a key class, she must look down on those who want to switch to liberal arts. Tong Hua forced out a smile and didn't dare look into Ye Dongling's eyes, saying: "Nothing, I don't know what I'm suitable for either, it's just that science is really hard."
"So you're really great!" Ye Dongling loudly grasped Tong Hua's arm, "Actually, I didn't know what to choose at first, and just followed the crowd to choose science. In the science department, biology is the only subject that I'm good at. Math makes me want to vomit blood! Physics and chemistry were okay in high school, but now they're getting more and more annoying. Sometimes when I hear liberal arts students discussing historical events or geography problems, I feel a little envious. Even now, I sometimes ask myself if choosing science was the right decision..."
The child's drawing smiled back at her. It seemed she wasn't the only one who worried about these things.
"I think you're very brave." Ye Dongling looked at her sincerely, "Not everyone has the courage to face their own shortcomings. Although many people are like me, saying that choosing liberal arts is a mess, but who hasn't weighed themselves in their heart? Unfortunately, our school emphasizes science courses in the first year of high school, and we have to give up physics and chemistry, which we've been studying hard for, to learn history, politics, and geography, which we didn't pay much attention to before. We also have to go to a new class, who wouldn't feel afraid? For example, I was thinking about this point, so I decided to stay and read science."
Ye Dongling pouted, sighed, gazed at the ceiling, and pretended to be deep: "Unfortunately, I chose science, it shouldn't be for this reason..."
"Now, isn't your sister doing well? After all, the admission requirements for science majors are broader, and with your grades, what's there to sigh about?" Tong Hua comforted Ye Dongling, who looked disappointed. This senior was among the top ten in their grade, but unexpectedly wanted to pursue liberal arts instead. If she could excel in science despite not being good at it, her grades would surely soar if she were to study liberal arts. Thinking this, Tong Hua felt a pang of regret.
"Never mind, it's useless to think about it!" Ye Dongling continued to shake her head deeply, then pointed at the physics reference book in Tong Hua's hand, "You can keep this one for now, anyway you can use it."
"Uh-huh. Thanks, sis!" Tong Hua nodded and smiled sweetly.
Ye Dongling said a word of thanks and then said she was going to eat, and left. Tong Hua watched her disappear in the stairwell, feeling that his heart was as refreshing as the air after a storm. As he prepared to turn back to the classroom, he saw a delicate figure slowly approaching.
Ah, what a beautiful girl. Tonghua can't help but recall all the poems that describe beauties in her mind. It seems like there's one that goes: Hands as delicate as lotus roots, skin as smooth as congealed fat, neck as slender as a wasp's waist, teeth as white as jade, hair as black as lacquer, eyebrows as thin as willow leaves, smile as charming as a flower, eyes as beautiful as the morning dew. And it seems like there's another one that goes: Fingers as slender as scallion roots, mouth as red as vermilion, steps as light as a fairy's, unparalleled in the world. Hmm, this line is from "Peacock Flying Southeast", what's the next line? I've forgotten, gotta hurry and flip through the book...
The cartoon was about to enter the classroom when he heard the girl shout:
"Hey classmate! Can you help me call Xiaoyi?"
Tonghua was taken aback, first trying to suppress his surprise, then trying to stop himself from checking out the beauty from head to toe. He smiled and replied, "Oh, wait a minute."
Then quickly returned to his seat, maintaining a smile, and turned around to whisper to Xiaoyi: "Xiaoyi, there's a beauty looking for you."
Then Xia Yi, Niu Qiao, and Tong Xiao Mi, who had been concentrating on her homework with her head down, all looked up towards the door.
A flash of lightning streaked across the sky behind the beautiful woman.
Tonghua heard Xiaomi's discontented low cry:
"Ah! Bad woman!"
What a surprisingly heavy rain!
Thank you for your patience, if you like it, don't forget to vote and recommend/collection oh~
In reality, "Peacock Flying Southeast" seems to have been deleted from some local language textbooks. But anyway, I still like this article very much. After all, this text doesn't have a specific time and place background, so let's just tolerate it and ignore the current situation.
