Eight Trigrams

  Eight, Gun Fuel Text

A month of military training can't be compared to the regular army's three months of training, although the action requirements are the same, but the training time is greatly shortened. For example, the most basic standing military posture, when Lin Fanghua was enlisted and trained in the past, she had to endure the scorching sun every day, twice a day, for an hour each time! She was only in the logistics department, far inferior to the regular field army. And this university student's military training, Instructor Ji just tried to let everyone experience it for over 40 minutes. Even so, many girls couldn't hold on. Lin Fanghua, however, maintained her standard military posture throughout, leaving a good impression on the instructor once again.

The military training team arranged for us to learn military boxing, taught by Officer Sun from the reconnaissance battalion. Lin Fanghua took one look at Jiang Pai and Zhu Pai's gaze towards Officer Sun and knew that this guy was indeed skilled. Sure enough, after he demonstrated a set of punches, it was like a fierce tiger or a hunting leopard, with fists and feet bringing wind, and an aura like a rainbow. The boys were highly enthusiastic when learning the boxing, but the girls couldn't keep up. Born without masculinity, especially shouting "Hey! Hey!" in a soft voice while punching, made the girls laugh uncontrollably later on. Even Lin Fanghua, who had always performed well, looked like she was doing flower punches and embroidered legs. Fortunately, this subject wasn't part of the assessment, otherwise Jiang Pai would have really wanted to knock his head against a tofu block and die.

However, Lin Fanghua soon made Jiang Paizhang feel relieved again.

This day was for learning the basics of firearms and maintenance. When Lin Fanghua saw the boys taking out the guns from the warehouse, he got excited. 81-1 assault rifle! Also known as the "81 bar" in "Soldier Assault", the main gun type of the People's Liberation Army. To be honest, Lin Fanghua had received training in the troops' instructional regiment before and had also participated in several reserve militia trainings after being transferred to a local area, but they were all using 56-style assault rifles or semi-automatic rifles. Because Lin Fanghua's unit was affiliated with the General Equipment Department's research base, the military training for university students mainly focused on discipline, style, and internal affairs, while armed wilderness survival, shooting, and crawling forward tactical training were just going through the motions. The regular troops' equipment was surprisingly the same as the militia's rifles, no wonder people in the base often joked about being "tu lu" (small rice + rifle)!

Actually, the Type 56 rifle is also a good gun, with high precision and easy to use for beginners; its appearance is also beautiful and elegant, otherwise it wouldn't have been used as a ceremonial rifle for so long. But in my previous life, Lin Fanghua was always frustrated that he couldn't even get his hands on the People's Liberation Army's main rifle type, let alone the later 95 series or even the 81 rifle. It was really embarrassing. I didn't expect that after rebirth, I would be able to join a regular field army unit that had participated in the Southern Xinjiang campaign and receive training, finally making up for my past regret.

When listening to the instructor's explanation of gun knowledge, Lin Fanghua was already unable to hold back her excitement, constantly stroking the gun body, magazine, and trigger in her hand, not minding at all that her hands were immediately stained with a large amount of oil. When the squad leader demonstrated the disassembly and assembly of the gun in front, she eagerly followed suit, taking it apart, studying it, and reassembling it, even when she pinched her fingers or scraped her palm while handling some parts due to improper force, she didn't mind at all, her enthusiasm undiminished.

Soon, under the drive of interest and passion, Lin Fanghua gradually found the knack, disassembling and assembling firearms faster and faster, and she also gradually became one with the object, completely immersing herself in a state of oneness with the gun - each component was like an extension of her fingers, and she was also as familiar with them as her own limbs, working together seamlessly.

When Lin Fanghua finished assembling it again and made a motion of firing an empty shot, Bear Squad Leader, who had been standing behind him for a long time, couldn't help but applaud: "Good! Too beautiful!" He happily took the gun from Lin Fanghua's hand, checked it, and handed it back: "Little Lin, did you often play with guns before?"

"I've only held a gun half a time," Lin Fanghua added, seeing the class monitor still looking curious. "It's just that I followed the soldiers of the guard company to shoot targets a few times." The words were again half true and half false. Which guard company could not manage so loosely, casually bringing a middle school student to play with guns! Lin Fanghua couldn't help but feel sentimental. After rebirth, in order to cover up the unusual places, she didn't know how many harmless lies she had told. However, she didn't expect that it wasn't because of her twenty years of medical knowledge, but because of other aspects of accumulated experience and insight that exceeded what was expected for this age group, that made her different from others! This is really unpredictable!

"It's really hard to believe you're holding a gun for the first time!" Bear Class Leader muttered and turned around to look for Jiang again.

Lin Fanghua didn't think much of it and continued with his usual ways. Before long, Bear Squad Leader brought over Jiang Piao Zhang, who had a look of uncertainty on his face.

Jiang Tao only glanced at Lin Fanghua a few times, and his face immediately showed surprise. He quickly rolled up his sleeves, watching her movements while glancing at the watch on his wrist to recall the time. After a short while, Lin Fanghua finished disassembling the entire set, and Jiang Tao muttered: "Genius! I didn't know there were really geniuses in this world!"

Suddenly, he rolled his eyes, the corners of his mouth curled up even higher, and hastily dropped a sentence "Little Bear, continue to bring her to practice" before hurrying away with a burning butt.

Jiang walked up to the second row of troops, who were practicing with great enthusiasm, and greeted Zhu: "Little Pig, your little buddies are doing a good job!" Zhu Mingzhi replied without suspicion: "Of course! Who else's soldiers would they be?"

But unexpectedly, Jiang Tao said loudly again: "However, compared with our girls' lineup, it's still far behind!"

"Alright, stop pretending! Don't burst your own bubble!"

Jiang Tao continued to pull: "Just this dismantling and assembling small trick, the female soldiers under me are all like playing house!"

Zhu Pai's long eyes rolled around: "Oh? What do you mean? Want to have a contest between men and women?"

Jiang Tao became more and more arrogant: "What can be compared with your soldiers? If you want to compare, let's compare!"

Zhu Mingzhi suddenly realized: "I said so, waiting for me here! Comparing to comparing, I'm afraid you won't be enough!"

"No, no, no, it's not me versus you, it's me versus a girl! How about it, dare or not?"

At this time, Zhu Paichang was already on guard against Jiang Xiaobai's hidden killing intent, but with so many male soldiers around him who had also heard the conversation, he couldn't back down: "Alright! It seems you're not daring to compete, sending a female soldier over, do you think I'll go easy on her?"

Jiang Tao smiled: "Less nonsense, if you want to compete, there must be a prize! This way, if my soldiers lose, I'll polish your shoes for a month; if you lose, the second platoon will line up and shout three times towards the third platoon - 'Learn from the third platoon!' How about it?"

Zhu Paichang's heart skipped a beat: How can this kid be so confident in winning? He hates my smelly sneakers the most, yet he dares to make such a bet. If I lose, I'll have to get my younger brothers to admit defeat in front of a group of girls, that would be too humiliating! What is this kid planning?!

Zhu Pai Chang, despite holding the bias that girls are no good at mechanics, still had an extra trick up her sleeve and demanded to play a game of brushing rubber shoes. Jiang Tao didn't mind, thinking: anyway, you're bound to lose.

The playground quickly emptied out a piece of open space, and the referee, holding two guns, placed them in front of the two contestants. The surrounding area was packed with rows of boys and girls, even those from other classes were drawn over; people in the middle sat or squatted, while those in the back stretched their necks to watch this seemingly suspenseless competition. Most people thought Zhu was a shoo-in for victory.

But as soon as the command "start" was given, Lin Fanghua's hands fluttered over the gun like a butterfly among flowers, and each component fell lightly onto the empty space in front of her, surprisingly not inferior to Zhu's speed; so everyone began to feel that this competition might still be suspenseful. And afterwards, during the reassembly of the gun, Lin Fanghua's movements became even more dazzling, she seemed to grab each component without looking and put them in their respective places with ease. On the other side, Zhu, who had been feeling confident about his speed from the rhythm of the sounds, began to feel uneasy and a bit flustered, making two small mistakes.

Finally, after Lin Fanghua's last move, she raised her gun and reported "finished", the surrounding area erupted in thunderous applause. A few seconds later, Zhu Paichang finally ended his own action, he just raised his gun without saying "finished", but sincerely said to Lin Fanghua: "Little girl, you're really good!" Lin Fanghua said with embarrassment: "Where, I was just lucky!"

Of course, the happiest and most proud person is Jiang Tao. Being able to bring such a cool good soldier, Jiang doesn't care if she's male or female!

Author Late Wind has something to say: Please don't doubt it, the female student winning against the platoon leader is a real thing. In terms of hand-eye coordination and such actions, there's indeed a matter of innate talent.

PS: To all the readers who have made it this far, if you think this book is still worth reading, please don't hesitate to leave some memories, collect, comment, recommend and so on! As a newcomer, I'm eager for support and encouragement. Criticism also shows that someone is paying attention, which I welcome.

But even without these, I will still persist in writing, just to fulfill a dream.
