The deepest and most oppressive secret 8

The Deepest, Most Repressed Secret (8)

Life is not a movie, when you're heartbroken, you can't just stop eating and drinking and not go home. Lucy Yang returned home with a pale face from hunger, the surface of her backpack and coat were soaked by the heavy rain, and her bangs were stuck together like sweat.

I don't know if it's because I was often hungry when I was a kid, but every time my stomach growls, I think of that rainy evening when I was alone in the corner of the classroom at school, shouting at the top of my lungs with no one coming to pick me up and take me home.

Shaking off the unhappy memories, Lucy opened the door to her home and saw her mother sitting on the couch watching TV wrapped in a thick quilt. She subconsciously turned around to glance at the floor outside the door, where the broken glass had already been cleaned up.

Lucy Yang felt relieved, and her home was quiet again. She raised her hand to wipe her eyes, then pressed down on her bangs in front of her forehead, because the rain had wet her bangs, making them longer than before, enough to cover her bright red eyes.

Lucy Yang closed the door of her home with satisfaction and walked near her mother. It was only then that her mother realized someone had entered.

"Are you on holiday?" Lu Mu's face showed a hint of surprise when she saw Lu Xiyang, and only then did she realize it was New Year's Day. Later, she just glanced at Lu Xiyang lightly and turned her head back to watch the TV screen, saying, "Aren't you always carrying an umbrella wherever you go? Why aren't you holding one?"

Lucy Yang lowered her head, grasped the shoulder strap of her backpack tightly, and thought to herself that if her mother found out she had an umbrella but didn't use it, she would probably get scolded. So she lied: "The umbrella accidentally fell off at school."

"Hurry up and change your clothes, dry your hair and all that." Lu Mu remained with her back to Lu Xiyang, her tone was cold but revealed concern, "Don't catch a cold, I didn't work hard for the money just to spend it on your medical bills."

Lucy Yang let out a soft "oh" that was barely audible to herself. She trudged back to her room, changed clothes and dried her hair before walking out again. She glanced at her mother still sitting on the couch and asked, "Mom, I'm hungry, is there any leftover lunch?"

As soon as Lucy heard her mother's voice, she looked up at the wall clock opposite and saw that it was already 4:01. Lucy also followed her mother's gaze to the clock and saw the time displayed on it. Before her mother could speak, she had already anticipated the outcome.

As Lucy Yang was about to leave, her mother said what she had been thinking: "Lunchtime has passed and dinnertime hasn't arrived yet. It's a big winter day and I didn't cook much food. Keeping warm is a waste of electricity. I don't know when you'll be back, so take 10 yuan from my bedside table to eat outside."

"No need, I still have money." Lucy Yang walked straight to the door and opened it.

"It's raining outside, don't forget to bring an umbrella." Lucy Yang was locked inside, but she still faintly heard her mother's words. However, she was already too hungry to want to go back, so she ran downstairs even more quickly.

The nearest Sha County snack to the residential area is a ten-minute walk away. Lu Xi Yang rubbed his already hungry belly and stepped into the rain curtain, habitually quickening his pace towards the nearest Sha County snack.

All the way, Lucy Yang kept thinking, is there anyone in this world who is more pitiful than her, even filling her stomach is such a difficult thing. It's like going back to the era when people were still struggling with food and clothing, it really makes her heart ache.

All the way, Lucy's mind kept replaying the conversation that took place at Duan Chenliang's house. When she ran into that small Sanxian snack shop, she couldn't help but mock herself in her heart - now that even having enough to eat and wear was a problem, how could she still have the energy to be sad?

  Forget it then.

Lucy Yang thought today's herself was already terrible, but she didn't expect that after eating that bowl of hot and steaming flat noodles, even more terrible things happened.
