Chapter 58: Watching Movies Together

Chapter 58: Watching a Movie Together

Every year on New Year's Day, the school organizes students from each grade to watch a movie together. The official reason is to "enrich their spiritual lives," but the underlying message is to "enhance their ideological awareness." From elementary school to now, Qiao An Yu Liang has watched many revolutionary movies, such as "The Eight-Year War of Resistance" and "The Long March," but they have never inspired her patriotism or enthusiasm. Instead, she always ends up yawning and struggling to stay awake.

This time, however, Qiao An Yu Liang is excited because she has managed to get tickets for the movie and plans to sit next to Su Yu Zhe. She imagines herself falling asleep during the movie and resting her head on Su Yu Zhe's shoulder, only to wake up and apologize profusely. Su Yu Zhe would then smile and rub his sore shoulder...

Just as Qiao An Yu Liang is lost in her daydreams, Shu Zi Mo appears before her with a scowl on his face. "You're spacing out again," he says. "Don't hide the movie tickets; we need to watch it this afternoon."

Qiao An Yu Liang quickly snaps back to reality and tries to hide the tickets behind her back. Shu Zi Mo stretches out his hand, trying to grab them from her. "I'll help you distribute the tickets," he says with a smirk. "You're not very grateful, are you? I'm doing this for your own good."

Qiao An Yu Liang is wary of Shu Zi Mo's intentions and refuses his offer. "No need to bother yourself, thank you very much," she says, putting the tickets away in her drawer.

Shu Zi Mo shrugs and walks away, muttering under his breath. Qiao An Yu Liang thinks to herself that he must be up to no good.

As it turns out, Shu Zi Mo has an ulterior motive for trying to help Qiao An Yu Liang with the tickets. He wants to save Su Yu Zhe from her "trap." Since Qiao An Yu Liang is not cooperating, Shu Zi Mo decides to try a different approach and targets Su Yu Zhe instead.

In the afternoon, at the movie theater, everyone takes their seats. Qiao An Yu Liang is still fuming, while Shu Zi Mo looks pleased with himself. "What a coincidence," he says, trying to strike up a conversation with Qiao An Yu Liang.

Qiao An Yu Liang ignores him and chats with Gu Si Qing instead. She feels like she's invisible to the other girls in the class, who are all gazing adoringly at Shu Zi Mo and Su Yu Zhe.

This year's movie is different from previous years' revolutionary films. It's a traffic safety education film, but it has a romantic subplot that captures everyone's attention. The main characters go through various trials and tribulations before finally getting together, and the audience can't help but feel invested in their love story.

As the movie reaches its climax, Qiao An Yu Liang feels her heart fluttering with excitement. But just as the male lead is about to kiss the female lead, the screen goes black, and the theater is plunged into darkness.

The staff announces that the movie will end there due to a sudden power outage. Everyone groans in disappointment but has no choice but to leave the theater.

Qiao An Yu Liang can't help but think that the timing of the power outage was rather convenient...
