Chapter 89 Crisis (Part 2)
As for whether the soul condensation would leave behind dander or sweat stains, causing a midnight inspection to reveal that Rong Yue and she were actually the same person, Gu Huan Lian's heart was extremely tense, even becoming entangled as she began to recall, wondering if she would leave fingerprints on the high-heeled cup.
In an instant, she was terrified as if facing a great enemy.
The silver lighter was opened with a "click", and a greenish-red flame burst out, moving towards the cigarette that was lightly pressed against his lips. He narrowed his eyes slightly, elegantly took a puff, and exhaled a pale blue ring of smoke. For a moment, the scent of tobacco filled the entire room, and gradually permeated into Gu Huan's hair tips and clothes.
With a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth, he gazed at Gu Huanlin with a tense expression, who was coughing due to the smoke. "Little wild cat, aren't you going to tell the truth?"
"What did you say?" Gu Huanli asked back.
Ye Xi's long fingers pinched the cigarette, then grasped her chin, the saliva-soaked mouth of the cigarette pressed against her jaw, the tip of the cigarette flickered on and off just a centimeter away from Gu Huan's face, the smoke drifted into her nostrils, Gu Huan couldn't help but let out a light cough.
"What do you think you should say?" The palm of his hand, holding a cigarette, slowly stroked her delicate cheek. He felt the body under his long arm tremble slightly, and his mouth corners lightly rose. "Besides, the hint I gave you is already clear enough. If you still don't know, I'm afraid I'll be so disappointed that I won't be able to help but tremble slightly."
"I really don't know..." Gu Huanli looked at him, and a helpless tear dropped onto the back of his hand as her eyelashes fluttered. The thing was, even if she wanted to say something, she didn't have the courage, after all, Cassidy's warning still lingered in her ears.
A hint of interest flashed in his eyes, the corners of his lips curled up with a meaningful arc, "Get in touch with that woman for me, and by the way, tell her, the token of affection, I've taken it."
As for later, Gu Huanliu had no impression of when Ye left, her limited brain was directly mashed into a pulp by four words.
She stared blankly at Cassidy in front of her, tears streaming down her face, and whispered, "What to do?"
"Miss, you're absolutely right." Cassidy carelessly opened the window, completely disregarding the icy wind that poured into the warm music room. "Because souls don't have blood, no fingerprints, no iris."
"Are... you angry?" Gu Huanli trembled with fear, her eyes wide as she gazed up at Cassidy. Lately, it seemed like one by one, they were all becoming more and more fierce. If this kept up, she estimated that being tortured to death was already not far off for her.
"Miss, it's time for your bath." Cassidy bent down to pick up Gu Huanli, and upon smelling the smoke in her hair, slightly furrowed his brow, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes.
"I can go myself" Gu Huanli struggled until a "bang" sound, locking her voice in the bathroom.
Gu Huanli was submerged in the bathtub, her raven-black hair clinging to her cheeks and bare back like a tangled mess of seaweed, exuding an enchanting aura. Watching Cassidy light scented candles on the side, the fragrance of citrus and grasses was enough to relax her tense nerves and produce feelings of happiness.
"Xiao Ka, you go out first... I won't drown in the bathtub." Gu Huanli said softly, with a faint blush on her cheeks like a pressed peach blossom, her pale face as smooth and translucent as sheep's milk jade.
"I've already told you, miss. I'm the one who's been taking care of your massage after bath all along. If there's anything inappropriate about my technique or strength, it can be adjusted, no need to ask someone else to do it." Cassidy leaned against the door with his arms around his shoulders and said lightly, "Besides, what part of you haven't I seen?"
Gu Huanli was directly choked by his words, her face turned pale, she grabbed the shampoo next to her and threw it at him with force, "Cassidy, don't make jokes that go too far, otherwise...otherwise...otherwise..."
"Dear miss, you can't threaten me." Cassidy's emerald eyes gazed at her without any emotion for a moment, then he wet his hand, poured shampoo into his palm, and gently washed Gu Huanli's hair with his slender fingers. "Unless you sell your soul to the devil, but that devil must have enough power to defeat me."
"It's too clever at night." Gu Huanli felt his fingertips gently scratching her scalp, and she couldn't help but narrow her eyes contentedly, saying softly, "Moreover, in Shanjian City, there is a group of network experts who are specially trained by him to steal all kinds of secrets. As long as it's a computer, as long as there is a network, all secrets are simply nowhere to hide from him."
"There are cameras and microphones everywhere, but not too many. So, I reluctantly categorize them as being for the miss's safety." Cassidy's fingers gently wiped away the white foam that had slid down her cheek, and he chuckled softly, a smile that didn't make Gu Huanlin feel warm, but instead made her heart slightly chilly.
This was completely different from the chill and gloom that surrounded Ye at night, as if warm sunlight had suddenly been shrouded in thick fog, plunging the world into a somber haze.
"What's wrong all of a sudden? Why are you suddenly angry?" Gu Huanli hesitated for a moment before finally asking again.
"I just want Miss to understand, I'm just your soul guardian, everything related to your soul's safety is within my responsibility." Cassidy's fingers lightly tapped on Gu Huanli's forehead, the next second, although there was an extra person in the bathtub, not a single drop of water overflowed.
However, Gu Huan was dazed and stared at her own snow-white breasts that were half exposed above the water, and the bright red buds seemed like two dewy red cherries that appeared and disappeared in the water. The next second, she was about to let out a shrill cry, but Cassidy directly covered her mouth.
"Shh—" Cassidy changed his palm to a finger, lightly touching her lips, and whispered, "Does the young lady want Master Ren and Nan Xing to hear or see this scene?"
Gu Huanli glared at him, and after a long while, she gritted her teeth and said, "No way". Her elegant demeanor was gone, she was furious now. If possible, she really wanted to give Cassidy a good scolding.
"If Miss wants to retain the identity of 'Liu Yue', then, she must strengthen her spiritual training." Cassidy wrapped the unconscious "Gu Huanli" in a bath towel and carried her out of the bathtub, placing her on a nearby chaise longue and covering her body with a bathrobe.
Her eyes lit up, she sat up straight and said seriously, "Your meaning is that through training, I can extend the time of my soul's condensation, and no longer have to flee in a flurry like last time?"
"Yes." Cassidy gazed at the water droplets trickling down her hair, then sliding gently along the curves, leaving a trail of moisture. The expression on his face didn't change with this enchanting scene, and he said slowly, "More importantly, Miss's soul won't be easily tainted by other flavors." After that, he picked up a towel to wrap around Gu Huanlin, then lifted her out of the water as if repeating his previous action.
Gu Huanli felt the skin on her knees and calves tightly against Cassidy's palms, her face reddening even more. She bit her lip and hesitated for a moment before saying, "How do I practice? Do I need to learn incantations or magic spells?"
"It's not that complicated." Cassidy said with a hint of a smile, his bright blue eyes looking at her, his voice unusually soft, yet giving off an intangible sense of menace.
"Cassady, before you came to the mortal realm, were you really just... a holy angel?" Gu Huanli gazed at Cassady's handsome profile, which seemed like a marble statue in the dim light, and murmured, "Are you sure your superior, Archangel Michael, allowed you to pass on these spells to me?"
"Why not?" Cassidy put her down, clasped her hands together at her lips and smiled gently. "Miss is an extremely special existence, since we have this opportunity, why don't we try to see where Miss can go?"
"Can't you see that I've had enough of being treated as a test subject in Shanjian City?" Gu Huan Lian gazed at him coldly, her smooth face adorned with dewy droplets that trickled down from her hairline to the corners of her eyes and into her lips, making her look both gentle and alluring.
"Does Miss think that being driven to desperation like last time, and even leaving a token of affection in the other's hand is what it means to be carefree?" Cassidy didn't mind Gu Huanli's sudden coldness and distance; he was connected to her soul, this bond far surpassing so-called blood ties or familial relationships.
Gu Huanli was once again driven to the verge of apoplexy by those four words, and she said word by word, "I just used it to extinguish the light bulb. If you dare say those four words again, do you believe I'll string you up and make a roasted sparrow out of you?"
"Really?" Cassidy's eyes narrowed slightly, and he said slowly, "If the young lady has this intention, then use her mind to extinguish the candle."
He glanced at the watch on his wrist and said softly, "Miss, you still have 40 minutes. However, to be on the safe side, Miss, you only have half an hour left."
"Mind power? Can it be extinguished just by thinking about it?" Gu Huanli shook her head in disbelief, and the next second, she stared blankly at the candle flame that had suddenly disappeared into thin air, as if someone had pinched it out with their fingers.
Cassidy relit the candle and then said slowly, "Miss, now it's your turn."
"I think it would be faster if you just killed me directly." Gu Huanli muttered softly, her eyes fixed on the gentle flicker of the candle flame. Warm colors, warm light, warm rhythm...
Gu Huanli rubbed her eyes and soon afterwards, she secretly let out a yawn. Five minutes later, she was already leaning on Cassidy's shoulder, lightly falling asleep.
Cassidy stroked her long hair, and she, in a light sleep, was like a pitiful little kitten. Unfortunately, everyone saw her as a canary in a gilded cage, giving her happiness and peace, but never freedom and self.
"Miss... the wheel of fate... everything has just begun..." He turned his face to look at her, watching as she rested her head on his shoulder and breathed softly, a smile on her lips like an angel.
She fell asleep and couldn't see the warmth flashing in Cassidy's eyes. He sighed, stretched out his hand to touch Gu Huanli's forehead. The next second, he carried the petite Gu Huanli back to the bedroom, gently placed her on the bed, and covered her with a quilt.
Time slips away minute by minute, and the night is still ongoing.
